Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be presenting the proposed Route 4007, Section 270, structure replacement project over Ackerly Creek at the Waverly Township Supervisor’s Meeting on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend.
The purpose of the project is to address the deficiencies of the existing structure and provide continued safe and efficient access for the traveling public on Route 4007 over Ackerly Creek.
The proposed project consists of the replacement of the existing stone masonry closed spandrel arch with a precast concrete box culvert, on a similar roadway alignment. The replacement structure will accommodate two 11 foot travel lanes with three foot shoulders per design standards. The permanent approach roadway work will include tie-ins with the existing roadway and guide rail upgrades.
A detour is required to perform the proposed work. Traffic will be detoured along a two-mile route via Route 407 (North Abington Road) and Route 632 (East Carbondale Road). It is anticipated that the detour will be in place for approximately three months during construction.
It is anticipated that construction will begin in the Spring of 2028 and will be completed by the fall of 2028.
The plans display will be held online and will be available from February 24, 2026, to March 24, 2026. Online information, including the proposed detour route, detailed project information, and comment form, can be found by visiting the following PennDOT District 4-0 website: Route 4007 (Miller Road) over Ackerly Creek Structure Project | Department of Transportation | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The plans will be on display at the Waverly Township Building, located at 1 Lake Henry Dr, Waverly, PA 18471 at the Township Supervisor’s monthly meeting on March 10, 2026.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project, display and describe the planned detour, and receive public input regarding questions or concerns with the project.
