PennDOT, PSP, MotorWorld MileOne Auto Group, Traffic Injury Prevention Project, and Local Partners Provide Free Car Seats and Safety Education During Child Passenger Safety Week

Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania State Police, Motor World MileOne Auto Group, Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP), local fire departments, safety organizations, and certified car seat technicians joined forces today to promote Child Passenger Safety Week by hosting a free community car seat event.

Families in attendance received free car seat checks, professional installation assistance, safety education, and car seats at no cost. In total, around 55 car seats were distributed, and many more were checked for correct use, providing over $10,000 worth of safety resources to families across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“This program is about more than just providing a car seat; it’s about protecting children, supporting parents, and ensuring families have access to resources that keep them safe,” said Amanda Kodeck, Chief Giving Officer for MileOne Autogroup.

Child Passenger Safety Week, held September 21–27, is a national initiative to raise awareness about the importance of properly securing children in the right car seat, booster seat, or seat belt for their age and size. Events like this help address the fact that nearly half of car seats are misused or improperly installed, putting children at greater risk in the event of a crash.
