3:45 PM (OPEN) Load Spill Affects Travel on Route 61 in Shamokin and Coal Township, Northumberland County

3:45 PM Update: Route 61 is now open in Shamokin and Coal Township, Northumberland County.​​

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised the Sunbury Street section of Route 61 is closed between Mt. Carmel Street (Route 61) and Sixth Street (Route 61) in Shamokin, Northumberland County due to load spill from a tractor-trailer.  

Motorists will be detoured using East Independence Street in Shamokin.

Motorists may also experience lane restrictions on Route 61 in Coal Township as crews work to clean up the contents spilled in the township.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution through the area.
