Road Work Next Week on Route 42 and School House Road Near Buckhorn, Columbia County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that work related to the multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues on Interstate 80 in Columbia County. Work will affect two area roads beginning next week.

Mall Boulevard (Route 42) Traffic Impacts
• On Sunday night, May 11, 2025, the southbound right lane and shoulder will be closed between Mitchell Drive and Red Mill Road. This restriction is scheduled to remain in effect until the evening of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, weather permitting.
• The northbound right lane and shoulder currently closed will remain closed between Lunger Drive and Buckhorn Road (Route 44). This restriction is scheduled to remain in effect until the evening of Tuesday, May 13,2025, weather permitting.

School House Road (Route 4006) Traffic Impacts
• On Monday, May 12, 2025, the contractor will continue work on School House Road between Buckhorn Road, and Frosty Valley Road (Route 4003), performing work on the bridge crossing the interstate. Work includes deck repairs and other rehabilitation work.
• An intermittent detour will be implemented using Frosty Valley Road, Mall Boulevard, and Buckhorn Road. The detour will be in place during the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM while the work is taking place. When the detour is in place, local traffic will be permitted from Route 44 to all local roads, but no access across the bridge. This work is expected to take place the Monday, May 12, 2025, and Tuesday May 13, 2025, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, and drive with caution.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in June of 2025.
