Work on Traffic Signals in Howard Township to Start Today

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work to upgrade the traffic signals at the intersection of routes 26, 150, and 1001 (Howard Divide Road) in Howard Township, Centre County, started today. This project will improve traffic safety by installing Intelligent Transportation System devices that are designed to reduce traffic congestion.

Most work will occur off the roadway with little or no impact on traffic. However, PennDOT urged drivers to stay alert for flaggers as there will be times when they are in the roadway directing traffic.

Overall work consists of installing traffic signal supports, signal heads, conduits, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. PennDOT originally announced this work for September, but there were delays. M and B Services of Clarion, PA, is the contractor on this $290,000 project. PennDOT anticipates them completing in March. All work is dependent on the weather.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
