With Earth Day approaching, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that litter pick-up activities will take place next week along I-99 in Centre County. Work is scheduled for daylight hours April 17-21. Some sections of Route 322 may also see litter clearing activity. This is a continuation of work that began in late March.
Crews from the Correctional Work Program at SCI Rockview will be clearing litter along the I-99 corridor across Centre County. Crew locations will vary throughout the week and PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution as they approach and pass litter crews working near the road.
PennDOT Centre County Maintenance is providing traffic safety measures including a crash truck and advanced signage. Pennsylvania State Police will also have an increased presence along I-99 to remind motorists to slow their speed as they travel the corridor. PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
Motorists are encouraged to "Know Before They Go" by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
