Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Buffalo & Pittsburg Railroad (BPRR) will close Route 830 (Airport Road/Washington Avenue) in Sandy Township, Clearfield County, starting Wednesday, July 23, to replace a railroad crossing. Replacing the crossing will improve rail infrastructure, ride quality, and enhance safety for motorists.
While the crossing is closed, traffic approaching from the west via Route 219 will be required to continue to the Interstate 80 westbound on-ramp and follow I-80 westbound to exit 90/DuBois Regional Airport to reconnect with Airport Road/Washington Avenue. Traffic from Falls Creek Borough wishing to access I-80 from the east will be unable to do so and will be required to travel to the ramps at Exit 90.
Local law enforcement and emergency services have been notified of the closure and have contingency plans in place. BPRR expects to finish this work in two days. All work is weather-dependent.
PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in the work zone, remain alert for railroad operators and equipment, approach railroad crossings carefully, and “Always expect a train.”
