    PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update – Week of October 21, 2024

    ​Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of October 21. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations. 

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility. 

    Box repair:

    • Route 819 (Diamond Street) in Mount Pleasant Township 

    Box culvert replacement:

    • Route 4089 (Hulton Road) in Allegheny Township
      • Road closed. Posted detour:
        • Route 4089 (Hulton Road)
        • Route 4073 (White Cloud Road)
        • Route 404 (Melwood Road) 

    Ditch channel cleaning:

    • Route 711 in Fairfield Township
    • Route 2043 (Linn Run Road/Darlington Rector Road) in Fairfield Township 

    Crack sealing:

    • Route 3091 (New Stanton-Youngwood Road) in New Stanton 

    Delineators:

    • Route 2016 (Youngstown Ridge Road) in Unity Township 

    Edge paving:

    • Route 3093 (Old Stanton Road/Center Avenue) in Hempfield Township 

    Pipe flushing:

    • Route 30 in Ligonier Township 

    Patching:

    • Route 4026 (Melon Road) in Murrysville Borough
    • Route 1033 (State Park Road) in Derry Township
    • Route 2025 (Ankney Hill Road) in Mount Pleasant Township
    • Various routes countywide

    Pipe installation:

    • Route 1065 (Nelson Road) in Bell Township 

    Shoulder repairs:

    • Route 56 in the City of New Kensington 

    Shoulder stabilization:

    • Route 711 in Cook Township 

    Slab repair:

    • Route 3013 (Vance Dei Cas Highway) in Rostraver Township 

    Slide repair:

    • Route 1022 (Latrobe Crabtree Road) in Unity Township 

    Sweeping:

    • Route 119 (Connellsville-New Stanton Road) in various townships
    • Various routes countywide 

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide.

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
