Work was part of the Layton Bridge Replacement Project
Route 4038 Layton Road is now open to traffic.
Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing a portion of Route 4038 (Layton Road) at the Washinton Run Bridge in Perry Township, Fayette County, that closed Monday, June 15 at 7:00 AM is now open to traffic.
The Layton Road closure was scheduled to remain in place until Monday, June 29 but crews were able to complete the work and reopen the road ahead of schedule.
During the closure, crews from Joseph B. Fay Co. installed temporary shoring needed for the construction of the new Washington Run Bridge.
Drivers should exercise caution while traveling through work zones and be alert for workers. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The project involves replacing the 17-span Layton Bridge over the Youghiogheny River and includes additional bridge, roadway, and safety improvements along Layton Road (Route 4038) between Route 51 and the town of Layton.
