Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) southwest region District 12, encompassing Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties, is closing out a successful 2025 construction season. With a contract value of $343 million, the district worked productively with private industry teams on 87 active projects.
The year’s 45 finished projects were put out for bid at $134 million. In 2025, District 12:
- Repaired or replaced 71 bridges.
- Conducted 35 on-demand bridge repairs.
- Repaired 14 slides.
- Paved 77 roadway miles.
- Preserved 525 roadway miles.
“District 12 is proud of the bridge and roadway improvements completed across our region in 2025. Each project represents the commitment of our team and partners to deliver safe, reliable, and lasting infrastructure for the communities we serve,” said PennDOT Assistant District 12 Executive for Construction Bill Beaumariage. “These projects reflect the hard work and dedication of our local partners in design, construction, materials, and labor. We’re grateful for their commitment to keeping our roads safe and our communities connected, and we look forward to continuing this progress in 2026.”
PennDOT has been hard at work improving Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges throughout the year, improving more than 4,800 miles of road, including over 1,400 miles of paving, and beginning work to repair, replace, or preserve 368 bridges from January through October of this year. The budget recently signed by Governor Shapiro continues critical investments in repairing Pennsylvania's vast road and bridge network.
Notable projects completed in 2025 include:
Fayette County:
- Pavement preservation on Route 119 from the Hopwood interchange on Route 40 to the Fairgrounds and all of Route 43 in South Union Township, $7.7 million.
Greene County:
- Replaced the bridge carrying Route 18 over Laughman Run in Morris Township, $1.67 million
Washington County:
- Reconstructed the Route 1019 (Bebout Road) and Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) intersection in Peters Township, $4.1 million.
- Replaced the bridge that carries Route 18 over Chartiers Creek in North Franklin Township, $2.7 million.
Westmoreland County:
- Pavement Preservation on I-70 from the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway to Route 906 (Belle Vernon Monessen Road/Main Street) in Rostraver Township, Belle Vernon Borough, and North Belle Vernon Borough, $9.7 million.
Notable ongoing projects continuing into 2026 include:
Fayette County:
- Reconstructing the historic Dunlap Creek (Cast Iron) Bridge carrying Route 4003 (Market Street) over Dunlap Creek in Brownsville Borough, $9 million.
- Reconstructing Route 119, Kingview Road, Crossroads Road, Mount Pleasant Road, McClure Road, Wedding Road, and Kendi Road, as well as the extension of Kendi Road to connect to Kingview Road in Upper Tyrone and Bullskin townships, $53.9 million.
Greene County:
- Reconstructing the intersection of Route 2003 (Sugar Run Road/Porter Street) and Route 2028 (Sugar Run Road/Orchard Road) in Franklin Township, $4.2 million.
- Replacing the bridge carrying Route 88 over Whitley Creek in Monongahela Township, $5.5 million.
Washington County:
- Replacing the bridge carrying Route 18/2001 (South Main Street) over a branch of Catfish Creek in the City of Washington, $4 million.
Westmoreland County:
- Reconstructing the Arnold City Interchange in Rostraver Township, $88.7 million.
- Reconstructing the Route 51 and I-70 interchange in Rostraver Township, $132.5 million.
- Reconstructing the Edmon/Salina Bridge carrying Route 1060 (Bridge Street) over the Kiskiminetas River and Norfolk Southern Railroad in Salina, Bell Township, $33.5 million.
