Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing a new traffic pattern on the Salina Bridge (Route 1060) in Belle Township, Westmoreland County and Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County begins today, November 12.
Previously, traffic was controlled by alternating signals on the northbound approach to the existing bridge, while the southbound lane was closed for reconstruction.
Beginning today, November 12 the southbound lane is open and traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of the bridge. Crews will now begin reconstructing the northbound lane and demolition of the old bridge. Alternating traffic signals will remain in place to guide motorists through the work zone.
All work depends on weather and operations.
This work is part of the $33.2 million infrastructure investment to replace the Edmon/Salina Bridge, which carries Route 1060 (Bridge Street) over the Kiskiminetas River and Norfolk Southern Railroad between Bell Township, Westmoreland County and Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County. The new superstructure will be a three-span continuous composite steel plate girder bridge on a new alignment located immediately downstream from the existing bridge. Mekis Construction is the prime contractor.
Construction is anticipated to continue through late 2026 and the current bridge will remain open for the remainder of the project. Please see the Salina Bridge Replacement Project page on our website for additional information.
