Bridge Preservation Project Begins Monday in Fayette County

Uniontown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing bridge preservation work will begin Monday, July 21 in Fayette County weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur each day, as needed, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through late December for epoxy overlay work and bridge preservation activities on the following roadways:

  • Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway) over the Monongahela River in Masontown Borough
  • Route 40 (National Pike) over the Youghiogheny River Lake in Henry Clay Township
  • Route 119 (Morgantown Road) over the Cheat River in Springhill Township

Work will not occur on each structure simultaneously and is dependent on weather and operational conditions.

Crews from Mekis Construction Company will conduct epoxy overlay work on bridge deck surfaces and approach roadway, cleaning and flushing of bridge drainage systems, joint cleaning and sealing work, barrier sealing, concrete sidewalk repairs, pavement marking and signing updates on this $1.5 million infrastructure investment project.
