Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing pothole repair efforts are underway on state-owned roadways in the southwestern region weather permitting.
When PennDOT crews are not providing winter services, they are routinely conducting pothole repair operations to state-owned roadways. With Pennsylvania’s aggressive and rapid freeze-thaw cycle, roadways will experience potholes.
Crews will address higher traffic roadways first and then secondary routes as soon as possible. These repairs are considered temporary because long-lasting asphalt is not available until warmer temperatures occur.
As crews conduct pothole repair operations throughout Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence counties, drivers may encounter roadway restrictions controlled by flaggers or other temporary traffic impacts. Please stay alert and drive cautiously – safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Roadway concerns, such as potholes, can be reported to PennDOT’s Customer Care Center by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting www.customercare.penndot.pa.gov.
Drivers can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
