I-376 Parkway East Overnight Lane Closures Begin Monday Night in Pittsburgh

Westbound I-376 off-ramp to Stanwix Steet (Exit 70D) to close Tuesday night

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing lane restrictions on westbound (inbound) I-376 (Parkway East) in Allegheny County will begin Monday night, February 16 weather permitting.

A mobile single-lane restriction will occur on I-376 in the westbound direction between the Grant Street (Exit 71A) interchange and the Fort Pitt Bridge from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM weeknights, as needed, through late February as crews conduct drilling work.

Additionally, the following ramp will close to traffic during the drilling work on Tuesday night, February 17 from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM:

  • Westbound I-376 off-ramp to Stanwix Steet (Exit 70D)

Ramp traffic will be detoured.

Westbound I-376 off-ramp to Stanwix Street

  • From westbound I-376, take the left-hand Grant Street (Exit 71A) off-ramp
  • Turn left onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
  • Continue to Stanwix Street
  • End detour

If additional restrictions are required, a release will be issued in advance of the work.

The work is part of the “Bathtub” project along westbound I-376 within the City of Pittsburgh will include work to reconstruct and raise 1,150 feet of existing floodwall to reduce the frequency of flooding events between the Grant Street (Exit 71A) interchange and the Fort Pitt Bridge. Additional work includes the installation of micropiles to strengthen the existing structural foundation under the roadway, full pavement replacement, and repairing and upgrading the existing pump and piping systems. A long-term single-lane restriction will be in place for the majority of the project with the possible weekend closures and lane restrictions. Also anticipated are impacts to the Mon Wharf parking area but those have yet to be determined. The overall project is expected to conclude in December 2027.
