District 11 Reminds Drivers Clean-up Operations Continue After Overnight Storms

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advising drivers to use caution while traveling this weekend as inclement weather that occurred Friday, March 13 brought down trees, wires, and other debris onto roadways.

Drivers are urged to be patient as our department crews, and the crews of our utility partners, work to clear impacted areas. Please remain alert for debris, changing roadway conditions, potential lane restrictions, and closed roads.

PennDOT maintenance crews are monitoring roadways and will respond accordingly as conditions allow. As issues are addressed, roadways will be reopened as soon as they are safe.

Additional details will be provided if restrictions occur along our interstates and heavily traveled corridors.

Please stay alert and drive cautiously – safety is everyone’s responsibility. PennDOT reminds drivers to:

  • Reduce speed and remain alert for debris on the roadway.
  • Avoid driving through areas where trees, limbs, or wires are down.
  • Allow extra time for travel.
  • Never approach or drive over downed utility lines.

Drivers can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,200 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
