Indiana, PA – Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Developers I (BPD-I) will begin pre-construction activities for the I-80 North Fork Bridges Project in preparation for the demolition and construction of the I-80 North Fork Bridges over North Fork Redbank Creek and Water Plant Road, the two bridges carrying I-80 over Route 4003 (Jenks Street), as well as the replacement of Route 4005 (Richardsville Road) over I-80 in Brookville Borough and Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.
On or around June 19, 2024, the construction contractor, Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) and Major Bridge Subcontractor, Fay (S&B USA Construction) will begin the first of three construction stages to be completed in the Spring of 2028.
Early work is to widen the median shoulders along I-80 near Jenks Street, to prepare for a traffic shift, to start work on those bridges, along with building construction access roads, installing erosion and sedimentation controls, and clearing trees. It is anticipated that the Jenks Street detour will begin in August 2024, with the Richardsville Road Detour to follow in Spring 2025. Additional communication will be published ahead of each detour.
Motorists can expect two lanes of traffic to be maintained in both I-80 Eastbound and Westbound directions, except for limited lane closures, which will occur during off-peak hours.
On Wednesday, April 4, 2024, PennDOT and BPD-I hosted the I-80 North Fork Pre-Construction Public Meeting in Brookville, PA to introduce key members of the I-80 North Fork team and provide an update about specific pre-construction and anticipated upcoming construction activities, traffic plans and scheduling.
