Secondary Road Maintenance Project Begins in April in Armstrong County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is alerting motorists to upcoming secondary road maintenance in Kiskiminetas, Parks, and Gilpin townships and Apollo Borough in Armstrong County.

“These necessary improvements continue to build upon a multi-year investment, that I am pleased to support. This three-year, $13 million initiative will result in a total of 100 miles of secondary road paving completed in Armstrong County since 2023,” said Senator Joe Pittman.  “I appreciate the continued attention Secretary Carroll has given to rural infrastructure in Armstrong County, and I look forward to working together with PennDOT to address these needs."

The state routes include 19.2 miles in Kiskiminetas, Parks, and Gilpin townships and Apollo Borough as follows:

  • 2.34 miles of Route 2046 – Old State Road
  • 2.66 miles of Route 2048 – Cherry Lane
  • 1.01 miles of Route 2050 – Jackson Road
  • 3.45 miles of Route 2052 – Sugar Hollow Road
  • 2.07 miles of Route 2053 – Garver’s Ferry Road
  • 0.49 miles of Route 2055 – Gravel Bar Road
  • 3.12 miles of Route 2057 – Airport Road
  • 4.05 miles of Route 2059 – Hungry Hollow Road

“The paving contract will improve 20 miles of roadway in addition to the 40 miles we completed last year in Armstrong County,” said District Executive Brian Allen.  “We’re very appreciative of the funding that allows us to move forward with repairs to our secondary roadways to improve the ride quality.”

The work is anticipated to begin in April and continue to October 2025.

Derry Construction Co., Inc., of Latrobe is completing this $8.1 million project, including $3.73 million for the roads mentioned and $4.73 million for base repair patching and paving on other state highways in southern Armstrong County.
