Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a short-term detour on I-79 South for a cross pipe replacement in Cranberry Township, Butler County.
Beginning July 18 at 8:00 PM through July 19 at 4:00 PM, I-79 southbound traffic to Exits 77 or 78 for PA-228/Cranberry/US-19 will stay in the right travel lane to access the exit ramps. Through traffic should travel in the left lane which will merge back onto I-79 south.
As issued before, through July and August work will be from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM weekdays with a lane closure on both northbound and southbound for joint repairs, the replacement of guiderail and signs. On weekends from Friday 8:00 PM to Monday 6:00 AM there will be a lane closure on both northbound and southbound for concrete patching, repaving northbound lanes, and fixing cross pipes.
On northbound I-79 the work area extends from Exit 77: PA Turnpike/Youngstown, OH/Harrisburg to a half mile past Exit 78: Route 228 Cranberry/Mars. Southbound is between Exit 77: PA Turnpike/Youngstown, OH/Harrisburg and the Weigh Station.
Contractor, Guilsek Construction LLC of Mt. Pleasant, PA, will be completing this $5.4 million project, estimated to be completed by the end of August 2025.
