PennDOT is Seeking Public Input on Construction Plans for Various Roads in the City of Corry, Erie County

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public view the plans and offer feedback on a project to make improvements to Route 77, Route 426, W. Washington Street, and S. Center Street in the City of Corry, Erie County.

The Corry Paving Project includes the following sections of roadway:

  • Route 77 (West Main Street/Church Street) between the intersection with W Church St. and the intersection with Route 426.
  • Route 426 (East Main Street and North Center Street) from the Warren County line to the intersection with Route 6.
  • W. Washington Street (Route 2020) from the city line and the intersection with Route 426.
  •  S. Center Street (Route 2029) from the line and the intersection with Route 426.

Route 77

Plans for work on Route 77 include of the full-depth reconstruction of the roadway from First Avenue to Church Street. There will be milling and paving from First Avenue to Center Street. Plans also call for guiderail updates, drainage upgrades, and ADA-compliant curb ramps construction.

Work will require a portion of the roadway to be closed. The proposed detour, which is expected to be in place for six months, will use Route 77, Route 8, Route 6, and Route 426. When the detour is not in place, motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Route 426

Plans for Route 426 project include milling, paving, railroad grade crossing restoration, bicycle pavement markings, sign and roadway paint updates, drainage upgrades, and ADA-compliant curb ramp installation as needed.

An approximately one-week detour is proposed for work near the Center Street railroad crossing. Similar to the proposed the Route 77 detour, plans call for the detour route to use Route 77, Route 8, Route 6, and Route 426. Pedestrian detours may be needed during curb ramp construction. Additionally, motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

W. Washington Street and S. Center Street

Plans for W. Washington Street and S. Center Street include milling, paving, base repairs, drainage updates, sign and roadway paint updates, and ADA-compliant curb ramp installation.

Motorists may encounter lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.

All the work is expected to take place during the 2026 construction season and will be phased to minimize the impact on drivers.
