Interstate Pavement Marking Project to Begin on I-78 in Lebanon County

Expect lane restrictions, possible delays weeknights from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that an interstate pavement marking project is set to begin mid-June on Interstate 78 in Lebanon County.

Work will be conducted in the eastbound and westbound lanes on I-78 between the Interstate 81 interchange and the Lebanon-Berks County Line. Work in this location will take approximately three to four weeks.

Weather permitting, work will begin on Monday, June 15, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, continuing weeknights Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. There will be lane restrictions during work hours.

This project consists of the removal of raised pavement markers and the placement of wet reflective polyurea and tape pavement markings in Lebanon, Cumberland, York, and Dauphin counties.

Following work on I-78, the contractor will conduct operations on these sections of interstate:

  • I-81 northbound and southbound lanes between the Franklin-Cumberland County Line and Exit 48 for Route 74 in Cumberland County,
  • I-81 northbound and southbound lanes between Exit 57 for Route 114 and the George N. Wade Bridge in Cumberland County,
  • I-83 northbound and southbound between Exit 4 for Shrewsbury and Exit 18 for Route 462 in York County,
  • I-83 northbound and southbound from just south of Exit 48 for Union Deposit Road to the I-81 interchange (Exit 51 A/B) in Dauphin County.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, PA, is the prime contractor on this $1,859,737 project. All work under this contract is expected to be completed by September 30, 2026.
