    Viaduct Rehabilitation Scheduled Next Week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in Philadelphia

    King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that guiderail installation will occur at night next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a $96.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

    Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

    • Monday, December 4, through Friday, December 8, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Interstate 76 and 9th Street; and
    • Monday, December 4, through Friday, December 8, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic right lane closures will be in place on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between 9th Street and I-76.

    Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

    The work is part of the post-construction punch-list activities for PennDOT's substantially completed Wayne Junction Viaduct project. More project information is available at www.us1wav.com.

    Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
