King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway repair operations will occur on the bridge that carries Strickersville Road over Big Elk Creek in Franklin Township, Chester County.
Weather permitting, motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, April 7, through Friday, April 11, Strickersville Road will be closed and detoured approaching the bridge between Springlawn Road and Mt. Olivet Road. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 841 (Chesterville Road), Route 896 (New London Road), and Appleton Road.
Local access will be maintained up to the work zone. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur
The two-span, two-lane, Strickersville Road bridge over Big Elk Creek was built in 1938 and reconstructed in 1975. The bridge is 92 feet long, 23 feet wide and carries approximately 709 vehicles per day.
This repair work is part of a $9.5 million project to replace or rehabilitate several structures across the five-county Philadelphia region.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of King of Prussia, PA, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
