Route 1002 East McMurray Road Intersection Closure Begins Monday in Washington County

Thompsonville Road (local) will close, Route 1019 (Bebout Road) to remain closed

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the closure of the Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) and Route 1019 (Bebout Road) intersection in Peters Township, Washington County, will begin Monday, July 7 weather permitting.

The following roadways will close to traffic at approximately 7 a.m. Monday, July 7 to allow crews to continue reconstruction work as part of the Route 1019 (Bebout Road) and Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) intersection improvement project:

  • Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) -- expected through mid-September
    • Will close to traffic between Fulton Drive and Demmel Drive
  • Thompsonville Road -- expected through mid-September
    • Will close to traffic at Parkwood Lane
  • Route 1019 (Bebout Road) -- expected through mid- to late July
    • Closed to traffic Tuesday, May 27, between Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) and Route 1004 (Sugar Camp Road), will remain closed

Local access will be maintained.

Crews from Plum Contracting are reconstructing the intersection of Route 1019 (Bebout Road) and Route 1002 (East McMurray Road)—an infrastructure investment of $4.1 million. The scope of work includes widening Route 1002 (East McMurray Road) to accommodate northbound and southbound left-turn lanes, along with a minor alignment shift, and widening Route 1019 (Bebout Road) to include a westbound right-turn lane.

Construction is anticipated to last through late November, depending on weather and operational conditions.
