Most work will be performed next year
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that preliminary work associated with a bridge replacement project on Route 72 (Ebenezer Road) in Lebanon County is expected to begin next week. The bridge spans Swatara Creek between Camp Meeting Road in Union Township and Frog Hollow Drive in Swatara Township.
Weather permitting, a contractor will trim trees for utility work at the bridge beginning Tuesday, October 24. This work will be performed during daylight hours and is expected to take about a week to complete.
There will be minimal impacts to traffic. However, motorists should be alert for construction vehicles exiting and entering the roadway. No other work is expected to be done at the bridge until next spring.
This project includes the replacement of the existing structure, minor roadway reconstruction, guiderail improvements and drainage upgrades.
Most work will be performed next year and will require a closure and detour. An updated press release will be issued prior to the closure.
Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation of New Cumberland is the contractor on this $4,961,250 project.
All work is expected to be completed by November 20, 2024.
