Weather permitting, detour to begin July 16; bridge is part of three-bridge contract

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on Walnut Run Road (Route 2031) Lancaster County. The bridge spans Walnut Run between Deiter Road and Lime Valley Road (Route 2030) in Strasburg Township.

Weather permitting, the bridge will be closed on Tuesday, July 16. A detour will be in place using Lime Valley Road, Route 741 (Miller Street), May Post Office Road (Route 2015), Route 372, and Route 222.

This project consists of a box culvert replacement, full depth reconstruction of approaches, new guiderail for each approach, and stormwater pipe replacement.

This work is part of a contract to replace three bridges. In addition to the Walnut Run Road bridge, the contract includes the Route 741 (Strasburg Road) bridge over Eshelman Run in Paradise Township and the Route 2014 (Maple Shade Road) bridge over Coopers Run in Colerain Township.

Work on the Route 741 bridge has been completed. The Maple Shade Road bridge construction is underway and is expected to be completed in August.

Doli Construction Corporation, of Chalfont, PA, is the prime contractor on this $2,020,305 project. Work is expected to be completed by September 4, 2024.
