The last portion of the multi-year project to pave 4 miles of roadway and restore three bridges along Route 6 in Warren County is expected to restart soon.
In the final phase of the $10.1 million project, repairs will be completed on the bridge that carries Route 6 over the Allegheny & Eastern Railroads in Conewango Township.
Work on the bridge started last year and focused on the passing lanes for both eastbound and westbound traffic.
This year, work will be concentrated on the areas of the bridge near and under the right lanes, which will require lane restrictions for both eastbound and westbound traffic. The right lane closures are expected to start the week of March 31, 2025, when drivers may notice concrete barriers being placed on and near the bridge.
Also in 2025, there will be paving done of each side of the bridge, updated durable pavement markings, line painting, and other minor work.
The project, which started in 2023, is expected to be completed in late June 2025.
Along with work on the bridge over the railroad, the project included traffic signal updates at the intersections with Yankee Bush Road and Preston Road, paving 4 miles of Route 6 from west of Yankee Bush Road to Main Avenue, drainage, guide rail and sign upgrades, ADA compliant curb ramp installation, and repairs to the bridge over the Allegheny River and the bridge over Morse Run.
The contractor is IA Construction Corporation, of Franklin, PA. The contract cost is $10,889,778, which is to be paid for with a combination of state and federal funds.
