A $6.75 million project to replace the bridge that carries Route 6 over French Creek in Crawford County is scheduled to start on March 17, 2025.
The bridge is located on Route 6 between the intersection with Route 198 (South Street) and the intersection with Jordan Drive near the border of Woodcock and Hayfield townships.
Along with the new concrete bridge, the work will also include milling and paving, guiderail, and pavement markings.
Construction is expected to begin March 17, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed in November 2025.
The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Route 6, Route 198, and Interstate 79. It is expected to be in place for six months beginning in mid-April 2025.
The existing metal truss bridge was built in 1933. It is classified as poor condition. Approximately 5,500 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
The contractor is Mekis Construction of Fenelton, PA. The contract cost is $6,750,575.42 which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
