Dunmore, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a plans display regarding the Route 3007, over Interstate 84 Bridge Rehabilitation Project. This plans display will be held online.
The Route 3007 bridge rehabilitation project addresses the priority 1 maintenance recommendations for poor condition of rocker bearings on the existing three-span steel bridge carrying Route 3007 (Neville Road) over Interstate 84 eastbound and westbound. The scope of work for this project includes replacement of all bearings at Pier 1, zone painting girder ends, barrier end retrofits to connect new guide rail, steel girder repairs, concrete repairs at the substructures, rock placement at the shoulders, and bridge cleaning. Roadway work includes new guide rail and crack sealing pavement at the approaches.
Permanent right-of-way acquisition and temporary construction easements will not be required. Earth disturbance is anticipated to be limited to within existing legal right-of-way. No utility impacts are expected from the proposed construction.
No wetlands or waterways are present within the project limits. Potential involvement with endangered or threatened species is limited to the Northern long-eared bat (NLEB) and Indiana Bat. Consultation with USFWS will be completed. No historical or cultural resources are known to occur in the immediate vicinity of the project. No other environmentally sensitive resources are anticipated to be impacted by the project.
Traffic will be controlled utilizing short-term single-lane closures and long-term shoulder closures on Interstate 81 during construction.
Flaggers will be utilized for single-lane two-way traffic while signs and channelizers will be utilized to close a lane for multi-lane traffic conditions.
The project is expected to bid in winter of 2026, with construction to begin in Spring 2027 and progress through Fall of 2027. One construction season is anticipated for this project.
