Uniontown, PA – Today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Washington Township Police Department, and Highway Safety Network kicked off a statewide aggressive driving enforcement campaign running from July 6 to August 16.
Safety partners highlighted how everyday aggressive driving behaviors like speeding, following too closely, and running red lights, can quickly lead to serious crashes.
“Most drivers don’t think they’re being aggressive, but speeding, tailgating, or trying to beat a red light can have devastating consequences,” said PennDOT Safety Press Officer Emily Stambaugh. “This enforcement wave is about reminding people to slow down, make safer decisions behind the wheel, and help everyone get home safely.”
According to PennDOT data, aggressive driving contributed to 6,905 crashes across Pennsylvania in 2025, resulting in 118 fatalities. In Westmoreland County alone, aggressive driving killed three people and seriously injured 11 others.
“Drivers should expect to see increased patrols throughout this enforcement wave,” said Washington Township Patrolman Christian Disciscio. "Our goal isn’t to write tickets – it's to prevent crashes.”
