Starting this month, repairs will be made to the bridge that carries Route 666 over East Hickory Creek in Hickory Township, Forest County.
Work will include removing the existing asphalt from the bridge and placing a new concrete deck.
The bridge is located on Route 666 east of the intersections with Queen Road and Hunter Road.
Construction is expected to begin April 20, 2026, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by May 15, 2026.
No detours are expected in connection with the project. One lane of the bridge will remain open throughout the project and traffic will be controlled by temporary stop signs.
The bridge was built in 1961. It is rated in fair condition. Approximately 300 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
The work is being completed through an on-demand contract with Allison Park Contractors of Gibsonia, PA.
PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
