The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is informing drivers of a planned detour for Route 160 (Forest Hills Drive) near Sidman in Adams Township, Cambria County, beginning June 9, 2026, for the start of a project to replace two bridge superstructures (the above-ground portion of a bridge that directly spans the obstacle and supports traffic loads).
A 14-mile detour is anticipated to be in place from Tuesday, June 9, through Friday, August 7, 2026, using Route 869 (Locust Street), Route 160 (Forest Hills Drive, Mill Road, Fairview Avenue, Fieldstone Avenue, Springside Avenue, Main Street), Route 53 (Portage Street, Railroad Street), and U.S. 219 for the Route 160 bridges superstructure replacements over Otto Run and South Fork Little Conemaugh River.
At no point in the project will both bridges be closed at the same time. The Otto Run bridge superstructure is anticipated to be constructed first followed by the South Fork Little Conemaugh River bridge superstructure. Each superstructure replacement is anticipated to take four (4) weeks.
Merlo Inc., Mineral Point, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $3,453,000 project to replace two bridges in Adams Township, Cambria County. The project includes minor approach work. The project is weather dependent.
