The potential for lengthy delays continues on Route 756 (Bedford Street/Elton Road) from Geistown Borough and Richland Township, Cambria County, from Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, June 5, 2026.
Drivers can expect lane closures with flaggers and delays up to fifteen (15) minutes.
From Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, June 5, 2026, contractors will be relocating waterlines on Route 756 (Elton Road) near the intersection of Vo-Tech Drive and Industrial Park Road, relocating gas lines on Route 756 (Elton Road) near the intersection of Theatre Drive, and performing traffic signal work on Theatre Drive at the intersection with Town Center Drive and College Park Plaza.
A Liberoni, Inc., Plum, Pa., is the lead contractor for the two-year, 2.5-mile, $9,473,117.05 Route 756 resurfacing project, which includes paving/resurfacing, sight distance and intersection safety improvements, the addition of left turning lanes, improved drainage, shoulder widening, the inclusion of bicycle-safe grates and the replacement of traffic signals and overhead signs.
Detour Planned June 9 to August 7 for a Project to Replace the Superstructures of Two Bridges on Route 160 in Sidman and Adams Township, Cambria County
A detour is planned for Route 160 (Forest Hills Drive) near Sidman in Adams Township, Cambria County, beginning June 9, 2026, for the start of a project to replace two bridge superstructures (the above-ground portion of a bridge that directly spans the obstacle and supports traffic loads).
A 14-mile detour is anticipated to be in place from Tuesday, June 9, through Friday, August 7, 2026, using Route 869 (Locust Street), Route 160 (Forest Hills Drive, Mill Road, Fairview Avenue, Fieldstone Avenue, Springside Avenue, Main Street), Route 53 (Portage Street, Railroad Street), and U.S. 219 for the work on the bridges over Otto Run and South Fork Little Conemaugh River.
At no point in the project will both bridges be closed at the same time. The Otto Run bridge superstructure is anticipated to be constructed first followed by the South Fork Little Conemaugh River bridge superstructure. Each superstructure replacement is anticipated to take four (4) weeks.
Merlo Inc., Mineral Point, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $3,453,000 project to replace two bridges in Adams Township, Cambria County. The project includes minor approach work. The project is weather dependent.
Single-lane Restrictions Planned for U.S. 219 for Route 3104 (Mt. Airy Drive) Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Richland Township, Cambria County, through June 5
Single-lane restrictions on U.S. 219 under the Route 3104 (Mt. Airy Drive) in Richland Township, Cambria County, continue through Friday, June 5, 2026.
U.S. 219 under the Route 3104 (Mt. Airy Drive) bridge will remain under single-lane restrictions with traffic limited to the left-passing lanes northbound and southbound, with both the northbound and southbound right-travel lanes closed. Mt. Airy Drive remains closed with traffic using a 2.9-mile detour on Route 3033 (Solomon Run Road), Route 3031 (Galleria Drive) and Oakridge Drive.
J.F. Shea Construction, Inc., Mount Pleasant, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $2,257,170 Route 3104 (Mt. Airy Drive) over U.S. 219 Bridge Rehabilitation Project, which involves the complete replacement of the bridge superstructure (the deck, girders, and beams above the substructure) and repairs to the substructure (the columns, abutments and/or foundation that carries the bridge load). Minor approach roadway paving to tie into the structure along with guide rail updates will be included. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2026.
Long-term Lane Restrictions on U.S. 22 (William Penn Highway) from Route 164 / Munster-Portage Exit to the Blair County line in Cambria County Continue
Long-term lane restrictions and minor delays continue on U.S. 22 (William Penn Highway) from the Route 164 Munster-Portage Exit to the Route 53 Cresson-Lilly Exit in Cambria County.
Drivers can expect minor delays (3-5 minutes) on U.S. 22 in Munster and Cresson townships with single-lane restrictions still in place in both the eastbound and westbound lanes from the Route 164 Munster-Portage Exit to the Route 53 Cresson-Lilly Exit.
Beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2026, contractors will be performing hydrodemolition on the Norfolk Southern Railroad bridge. Hydrodemolition is a vibration-free concrete removal method that uses high-pressure water jets to blast away deteriorated concrete while leaving the bridge’s structural steel and rebar intact. Work will also continue on Route 53 (West 2nd Street) bridge over U.S. 22.
Beginning Thursday, June 4, 2026, the long-term lane closure will switch from the current left-passing lane closure to a right-travel lane closure as contractors prepare for milling and paving operations.
Grannas Bros. Stone & Asphalt Co., Inc., Hollidaysburg, Pa., is the lead contractor for the $11,564,159.00 project which includes pavement resurfacing, guide rail upgrades, drainage maintenance, and rehabilitation of both the bridge carrying Route 53 (West 2nd Street) over U.S. 22 and the bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-November 2026.
