Contractors will be closing both ramps from Route 4009 (10th Avenue) to Route 36 (Union Avenue, 18th Street) from 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 4, to 6:00 AM Thursday, June 5, with the possibility of closing the ramps again from 6:00 PM Thursday, June 5 to 6:00 AM Friday, June 6, if necessary.
The detour for motorists seeking to access Route 36 north (18th Street) from Route 4009 (10th Avenue) will be 15th Street to 13th Avenue to Route 36 (18th Street).
The detour for motorists seeking to access Route 36 south (Union Avenue) from Route 4009 (10th Avenue) will be the 17th Street exit, then following Margaret Avenue to Route 36 at the Union Avenue-Broad Avenue intersection.
As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers.
The work is part of the Mill Run Bridge project, slated to be completed during the 2025 construction season. Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., of Everett, PA, is the contractor for the $7,434,773.35 project, which includes the replacement of the bridge, installation of a left-turn lane from Route 36 onto 31st Street (City Street), improved drainage, and guide rail upgrades over 4.218 miles of roadway.
