Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 2019 Section 023 (Sheridan Road) superstructure replacement project in Mill Creek Township, Lebanon County.
The purpose of the proposed project is to improve the structural integrity of the bridge ensuring reliable transportation for motorists and emergency services.
The existing structure was built in 1931 and is a single span supported by multiple cast-in-place reinforced concrete T-beam superstructure. The superstructure is supported on full height concrete abutments. The bridge length is 42 feet, has a curb-to-curb width of 24 feet, and contains 4 feet high concrete bridge barriers.
The project involves the removal of the existing superstructure, and replacement with precast box beams, and a cast-in-place concrete deck and barriers. The existing substructures will be repaired where needed, and rock scour protection will be placed in front of the existing abutments and wing walls. Minor approach roadway work including pavement reconstruction and guiderail updates are also included. The horizontal and vertical roadway geometry will closely match the existing geometry. The roadway and bridge will be slightly widened to accommodate 11-foot lanes and 3-foot shoulders; providing a 28-foot minimum curb-to-curb width across the structure.
Route 2019 will be detoured during construction.
The project is currently in design, and construction is expected to occur during the summer 2028 construction season.
The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and solicit public input, questions, or concerns regarding the project.
A digital version of the information will be available to view online with comments accepted from June 29, 2026, to July 29, 2026.
