Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that milling and concrete patching is scheduled to begin next week on eastbound Route 30 in Hellam Township, York County. This work is associated with a resurfacing project on Route 30 from just west of the Route 462/Hallam Exit to the Wrights Ferry bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.
Weather permitting, work will start the night of Sunday, March 29, and continue from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday through Thursday nights until mid-summer, with final paving, pavement markings, signs and guide rail to follow.
Friday nights will be used as backup, as needed. The contractor will start just west of the Route 462/Hallam Exit and work in the eastbound direction. There will be nighttime lane restrictions on eastbound Route 30.
Once work in the eastbound direction is completed, work will switch to the westbound lanes.
Barrier is set along the westbound right shoulder of Route 30 at the Cool Springs Road bridge so work can be performed on the bridge abutment. This work is expected to continue through late spring.
This resurfacing project consists of milling, asphalt resurfacing, base repair, concrete paving, concrete patching, drainage improvements, guiderail updates, line painting, sign updates, structure repairs and other miscellaneous construction on Route 30 (Arsenal Road) from just west of the Route 462/Hallam Exit to the Wrights Ferry Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River.
Milling and paving on eastbound and west bound Route 30 will take place during the 2026/2027 construction season.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $15,475,000 project.
All work on this contract is expected to be completed by December 21, 2027.
