Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that tree trimming, clearing and grubbing will begin Friday marking the start of a bridge replacement project on the Old Forge Road (Route 2048) bridge over Bear Branch tributary to North Branch of Muddy Creek in Chanceford Township, York County
Weather permitting, prep work will begin Friday, May 1, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and continue through next week. There will be daylight lane restrictions under flagging during work hours.
Travelers should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
An updated press release will be issued prior to the scheduled road closure and detour.
Work under this contract consists of replacing the bridge with minor roadway reconstruction at the approaches. The existing single-span adjacent box beam structure will be replaced with a precast box culvert with guiderail updates.
JVI Group, Inc., of York Springs PA, is the contractor for this $1,069,069 bridge replacement project. All work is expected to be completed by June 1, 2027.
