King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway reconstruction and core borings are planned next week on U.S. 422 in Upper Merion and Lower Pottsgrove townships, Montgomery County, and North Coventry Township, Chester County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, June 2, through Thursday, June 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between the Pennsylvania turnpike overpass and the Route 23 Interchange in Upper Merion township, Montgomery County, for traffic camera replacement.
- Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, for roadway reconstruction.
- Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between the Route 100 and Stowe (Grosstown Road) interchanges in North Coventry Township, Chester County, for core borings.
- Monday, June 2, through Friday, June 6, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the ramp from eastbound U.S. 422 to southbound Route 100 in North Coventry Township, Chester County, will be closed for core borings. Motorists will be directed to use the Stowe exit and reenter U.S. 422 westbound to access southbound Route 100.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The traffic camera replacement is part of a project to replace Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) across the five-county Philadelphia region.
The roadway reconstruction is part of PennDOT’s $83.6 million U.S. 422 Section M1B project to reconstruct and improve approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.
The core borings are part of U.S. 422 Section M2B, a future project to reconstruct 1.5 miles of the limited access expressway from just east of the Schuylkill River Bridge between the Stowe and Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) interchanges to just west of the Keim Street overpass in North Coventry Township, Chester County.
