Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a bridge replacement project along Route 2019 (Seven Stars Road) in Monroe Township, Juniata County, is set to get underway on Tuesday, May 26. This project will replace a deteriorating structure built in 1940 that spans Mahantango Creek approximately 1.5 miles southeast of Richfield and will improve ride quality over the bridge, improve its overall condition rating, remove a 22-ton weight restriction for single vehicles, and a 32-ton weight restriction for combination vehicles.
Starting Tuesday, the contractor will close the bridge and implement a detour that will remain in place for the project’s duration. Traffic will follow Route 2014 (Lauver Valley Road), Route 2017 (Evandale Hill Road), Route 35, and Route 3016 (Seven Stars Road) around the closure. PennDOT anticipates project completion in early November, but all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Work scheduled under this contract includes removal of the existing bridge, construction of its replacement, approach paving, guide rail upgrades, line painting, and miscellaneous construction. Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, PA, is the contractor on this $1.7 million project.
