Route 1001 East 10th Avenue Closure Begins Next Monday in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing road reconstruction work requiring a closure of a portion of Route 1001 (East 10th Avenue) in Tarentum Borough, Allegheny County will begin Monday, July 6 weather permitting.

East 10th Avenue will close to traffic between Route 366 and just east of Lock Street beginning at approximately 7:00 AM Monday and remain closed around-the-clock through late July. Crews will conduct full-depth reconstruction work of the road. All traffic will be detoured.

West of the closure

  • Head north on Route 366
  • From Route 366, take the ramp to northbound Route 28 toward Kittanning
  • Continue northbound on Route 28
  • Take the Natrona (Exit 15) exit
  • Turn right onto Burtner Road
  • Continue to the intersection with Freeport Road/East 10th Avenue
  • End detour

East of the closure

  • Head east on East 10th Avenue/Freeport Road to Burtner Road
  • Turn left onto Burtner Road
  • From Burtner Road, take the ramp to southbound Route 28 toward Pittsburgh
  • Continue southbound on Route 28
  • Take the 366/Tarentum/New Kensington (Exit 14)
  • Turn left onto Route 366
  • Continue to the intersection with East 10th Avenue
  • End detour

The prime contractor is A. Liberoni, Inc. on this $7.78 million group paving project. Improvement work includes milling and paving, drainage upgrades, base repair, pavement marking installation, guide rail improvements, and other various construction related activities. Restriction times will vary throughout sections of the project. Additional information will be provided as the project progresses.
