Pittsburgh, PA –The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing nightly closures of the outbound I-279 and I-579 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in the City of Pittsburgh and Ross Township, Allegheny County will occur Monday through Friday nights, July 6-10 weather permitting.
To ensure work zone safety at the Jacks Run Road Bridge, the HOV lanes will close to traffic in the outbound (northbound) direction each night from 9:00 PM or two hours after the end of major events occurring in the city until the directional switch is made for the morning rush hour.
The HOV lanes will operate as normal the remainder of the day according to the following schedule:
- Open in the inbound direction from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
- Closed from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Open in the outbound direction from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM or two hours after the end of major events occurring in the city
