I-376 Parkway East Overhead Sign Work Monday Night in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing overhead sign work on I-376 (Parkway East) between the City of Pittsburgh and the Municipality of Penn Hills, Allegheny County, will occur Monday night, June 15 weather permitting.

Overnight intermittent rolling traffic stoppages of 15 minutes or less will occur as needed on I-376 from 9:00 PM Monday night to 5:00 AM Tuesday morning in the following locations:

·         Eastbound I-376 (outbound) between the Forbes Avenue/Oakland (Exit 72A) exit and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel

·         Westbound I-376 (inbound) between the Penn Hills (Exit 81) and Churchill (Exit 79B) interchanges

Crews will conduct overhead sign work.

Please use caution in the area. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The Commercial Street Bridge replacement project will utilize Accelerated Bridge Construction Techniques to laterally slide the new bridge onto the existing alignment of I-376 (Parkway East), which would be one of the largest lateral slide projects performed in Pennsylvania. The $95 million project located between the Edgewood/Swissvale (Exit 77) interchange and Squirrel Hill Tunnel in Edgewood and Swissvale boroughs, and the City of Pittsburgh began in June of 2024 with the reconstruction of the westbound I-376 off-ramp to Forest Hills/Wilkinsburg (Exit 78B). Tentatively, from July 10 through August 3, 2026, drivers can expect a 25-day full closure and detour of I-376. The overall project is anticipated to conclude in the summer of 2027.
