Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that beginning Monday, April 21, a detour will be in place to facilitate the replacement of a bridge on Route 255 spanning Muddy Run and situated at the intersection of Hungry Hollow Road in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. This will improve the overall condition rating of the bridge from poor to good.
Starting Monday a detour providing access to Hungry Hollow Road will be implemented, utilizing Kilmer Road and Salada Road, as crews construct a temporary roadway to carry Route 255 traffic around the project site.
Beginning the week of May5, traffic will be routed around the project site on Route 255 using the single-lane temporary roadway with traffic signals to allow replacement of the existing bridge. Short delays should be expected.
Workers will be in the roadway and motorists are advised to be alert for sudden stops. PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution and not to follow trucks into the closed lane as they deliver material.
Overall work on this project includes the replacement of the existing bridge with a new concrete box culvert structure, reconstruction of the approaching roadway, guiderail installation, drainage improvements, application of pavement markings, and related construction. Kukurin Contracting of Export, PA, is the contractor on this $1.5 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in October.
