Work on Mifflin County Veterans Memorial Bridge Restarts Monday

Lewistown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a restart date of Monday, April 17, for work on the Mifflin County Veterans Memorial Bridge spanning the Juniata River along Route 103 in Granville Township.

Crews will be working through April 28 to replace the seals in the expansion dams of the bridge. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane during daylight hours while this work takes place. PennDOT advises drivers traveling the area to build extra time into their travel schedules as it expects delays. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

The bridge opened to traffic in 1989, is 762 feet long, and carries an average of almost 4,700 vehicles daily. Rylind Construction Company, Inc. of Muncy, PA, is the contractor on this project. The contractor started this work in mid-February, but a materials issue caused a delay.

Motorists are encouraged to "Know Before They Go" by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
