Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 1015 (Juniata Parkway East) structure preservation project. This project is located over Howe Run in Howe Township, approximately 3.5 miles east of the Borough of Newport.
The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the existing arch culvert and provide continued safe and efficient crossing of Route 1015 (Juniata Parkway East) over Howe Run.
The project consists of concrete repairs to the wingwalls and interior of the culvert, installation of a concrete floor in the arch culvert, waterproofing the top of the culvert, limited pavement reconstruction, and guide rail replacement. Existing lane and shoulder widths will be maintained.
The bridge will be closed for approximately three months to all traffic during the construction. The proposed detour route will use Route 1020/T-533 (Meadow Grove Road), Route 1019 (Chicken Hollow Road), Route 1018 (Bucks Valley Road), and Route 1017 (Shortcut Road).
The project is currently in design and construction work is anticipated to take place in the 2027 construction season.
A digital version of the information is available to view online from through January 6, 2025.
