Improvements along the Route 832 Corridor in Millcreek Township, Erie County to Start Soon

A $6.3 million project that will give motorists a smoother ride on more than a mile of Route 832 and improve traffic signals are several intersections along the corridor in Millcreek Township, Erie County is scheduled to start this month.

The project includes milling and paving 1.3 miles of Route 832 (Peninsula Drive) from Route 5 (12th Street) to the entrance to Presque Isle State Park as well as at the intersection of Route 832 and 23rd Street in Millcreek Township, Erie County. Work will also include updates to drainage, signs, road paint markings, and guiderail.

Safety improvements, including ADA curb ramps, roadway markers, and new traffic signals will be completed at the intersections of Route 832 and Sixth Street, Eighth Street, and 23rd Street and permanent speed bumps will be installed near Sara’s Restaurant. Signal retiming will be done at the intersection of Route 832 and Route 5.

Construction is expected to begin June 23, 2025, weather permitting, with paving being completed by October 2025 and the potential for some traffic signal work to be extended into spring 2026.

Motorists should be alert for traffic shifts, temporary signals, and lane restrictions, and anticipate travel delays during active work hours. Access to Presque Isle State Park and the other destinations in the area will be maintained at all times.

In connection with the Independence Day and Labor Day holidays, no lane restrictions are expected from July 3 to July 7, 2025, or from August 29 to September 2, 2025.

The contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc. of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $6,362,805.45, which is to be paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
