Steel pipe culverts to be replaced with precast concrete box culverts; road will be detoured
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today a culvert replacement project on Horse Valley Road (Route 3002) in Perry County is scheduled to begin in June. The project involves the replacement of two dual steel pipe culverts with precast concrete box culverts. The culverts, which are about 800 feet apart, carry Horse Valley Road over Horse Valley Run near Tuscarora State Forest in Toboyne Township.
Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, June 10.
The road will be closed. A detour will be in place using Horse Valley Road and Route 75 (Tuscarora Valley Road).
Work is expected to be completed and the road open to traffic by November 4, 2024.
The project involves replacing two existing dual metal pipe culverts with precast concrete box culverts in their existing alignments. Work also includes guiderail updates, signing and pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction,
Wen-Brooke Contracting, Inc. of Three Springs, PA, is the contractor on this $1,521,850 project.
