Stormwater Improvements Planned on Several State Highways in Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction activities are planned next week on several state highways on Monday, November 13, through Friday, November 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, under a $14.9 million project to improve stormwater management and facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Bucks County

  • Lane closure scheduled on Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between Swartley Road and Orvilla Road in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County and Hilltown Township, Bucks County for sawcutting and stormwater replacement.

Chester County

  • Lane closure scheduled on Route 29 (Morehall Road) between Atwater Drive and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in East Whiteland Township for sawcutting and stormwater replacement; and
  • Hollow Road will continue to be closed between Charlestown Road and Route 29 (State Road) in Charlestown Township for stormwater replacement. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.

Delaware County

  • Lane closure scheduled on Gradyville Road between Delchester Road and Route 352 (Middletown Road) in Edgmont Township for paving and stormwater replacement; and
  • Lane closure scheduled on Route 352 (New Middletown Road) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and North Drive in Middletown Township for paving.

Montgomery County

  • Lane closure scheduled on Ridge Pike between Fern Avenue and Caswell Avenue in Lower Providence Township for paving; and
  • Lane closure scheduled on Susquehanna Road between Colonial Avenue and Easton Road in Abington Township for stormwater replacement.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
