Bridge Replacement Project Continues on Route 487 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a bridge replacement project continues on Route 487 in Cherry Township, Sullivan County.

The week of Monday, June 24, 2024, traffic will be switched to the temporary bridge over Birch Creek.  The contractor, Nestlerode Contracting Company, will begin the demolition of the existing bridge and construction of the new structure.

Nestlerode Contracting Company is the prime contractor for this $3.1 million bridge replacement project. Work includes construction of a temporary bridge to the west of the proposed replacement structure, removal of the existing bridge and stone masonry, replacement with a Bulb-Tee bridge, drainage improvements, approach work and line painting. Work on this project is expected to be completed in November of 2024, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
