Overnight Closures Start Next Week at I-80/Route 42 Interchange in Hemlock Township, Columbia County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that overnight ramp closures will start next week at the Interstate 80 / Route 42 interchange (Exit 232 / Buckhorn) in Hemlock Township, Columbia County. This project is part of a multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project continues next week on Interstate 80 in Columbia County.

Starting Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the contractor will begin work on the entrance and exit ramps at the Interstate 80 / Route 42 interchange (Exit 232 / Buckhorn). Motorists can expect the below closures.

Traffic Impacts

  • Interstate 80 west entrance ramp from Route 42 south will be closed.
    • A detour using Interstate 80 east, Exit 236 (Route 487/Bloomsburg), Interstate 80 west, will be in place.
  • Interstate 80 east entrance ramp from Route 42 north will be closed. 
    • A detour using to Interstate 80 west, Exit 224 (Route 54/Danville), Interstate 80 east, will be in place.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in June of 2025.
