The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is developing plans for two Route 2047 (Mason Dixon Highway) bridge replacement projects located in Summit Township and Garrett Borough, Somerset County.
The projects on Route 2047 (Mason-Dixon Highway) consists of mill and overlay of pavement, full-depth reconstruction at the proposed culverts, and shoulder widening at the Garrett intersection curve, the replacement of the bridges over both the tributary to Casselman Run and Swamp Creek, minor roadway approach paving, drainage improvements and upgrading guide rails to meet current standards. A 10.6-mile detour will be implemented during construction.
For those interested in learning more about these projects, a public meeting and plans display covering both projects is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Summit Township Municipal Building located at 192 Township Office Road, Meyersdale, Pa. 15552.
